Floral Anatomy
A detailed floral anatomy study combining realistic petals with diagram-like botanical structure.
Design Narrative
The client studies plant reproduction and was frustrated that floral tattoos never show the parts that do the actual work. The brief was to draw a flower the way a dissection drawing does — petals rendered fully, but cut away to expose the structure underneath. Balancing the two registers took the longest, since too much cross-section made it cold and too little made the whole idea invisible. The outer arm gave a flat enough surface to hold the diagram lines without warping them.
