The client had an older geometric piece elsewhere on the body that they had grown tired of — too rigid, too obviously drafted. The brief was the same vocabulary handled loosely, as if the shapes had been sketched from memory instead of measured. Each form was drawn freehand and kept at whatever angle it landed, with only the overall grouping adjusted. On the shoulder the arrangement shifts as the joint moves, so the composition is never quite the one that was drawn.
