Design Narrative

This came from a stone the client picked up on a beach and has carried in a coat pocket for eleven years. It is not remarkable — they are clear about that — but it has been worn into a shape by their own hand over time. The design brief was to draw an object that had been made by attrition rather than intention, which meant resisting every impulse to balance it. Cracks were placed where the form was strongest, so the eye reads damage before it reads mass.
