Waterline Hand
A fluid hand motif inspired by reflection, touch, and the distortion of forms beneath water.
Design Narrative
The idea came from watching a hand break the surface of a swimming pool from underneath — the way the wrist appears to snap sideways at the waterline. The client was a swimmer and found it strange that the body could look broken while feeling entirely intact. Sketches tested where to place the fracture, since too high made it grotesque and too low made it invisible. The break sits at the calf's widest point so the distortion lands where the leg is already curving.
